Hunter Island Whisky Tasting

Spend your Friday afternoon immersed in Tasmanian whisky at an intimate tasting masterclass at New Gold Mountain.

This guided session is hosted by Damian Mackey, one of Tasmania’s most respected whisky makers, with over 20 years’ experience. Drawing inspiration from Ireland’s traditional pot still style, Damian has created Hunter Island Whisky — a distinctive Tasmanian expression using local grains, pure water and careful triple distillation.

Across the afternoon, Damian will pour and talk through six Hunter Island expressions, sharing stories of production, cask influence and the thinking behind each whisky. The session will also serve as the official launch of a new Port/Rum Cask Matured release, being presented for the first time.

• Hunter Island Whisky – Tawny Cask Matured – 46.9% ABV

• Hunter Island Whisky – Bourbon Cask Matured (ex-Maker’s Mark) – 48% ABV

• Hunter Island Whisky – Apera Cask Matured – 48% ABV

• Hunter Island Whisky – Sherry / Rum Cask Matured – 52% ABV

• New Release: Hunter Island Whisky – Port / Rum Cask Matured – 46% ABV

This is a relaxed but informative tasting designed for both whisky lovers and those keen to deepen their understanding, with plenty of opportunity to ask questions and engage directly with the distiller.
